The compact adapter has two display modes:
Monitor Display: HDMI input source and DP monitor display the same picture
Extended Mode: When the DP monitor plays movies from the HDMI input, you can browse the Internet on the input source computer

Plug and play – no driver or software installation required. The HDMI to DisplayPort Adapter includes a USB charging port; plug the USB power supply into the USB port for optimal performance and compatibility
Note: This is only an HDMI to DP adapter. It is not reversible and cannot be used to connect DisplayPort to HDMI. Make sure to select DP input source on the monitor
